About the position:

As a Mining Engineer within Caterpillar’s Minetec team you will be responsible for supporting the ongoing development if the Minetec product portfolio and partnering with customer to ensure optimal product performance with our customers.

Job Duties/Responsibilities May Include, But Not Limited To:

• Support customers by providing Minetec product application expertise to improve their operations
• Provide mining engineering consultation to customers for both Caterpillar Minetec and alternate products.
• Understand customer needs, analyse applications and provide recommendations on the best solutions to optimise a customer’s performance.
• Provide pre-sales and post-sale engineering support.
• Complete investigations and reports for use of investment calculations.
• Train users of the Caterpillar Minetec product.
• Assist in the development of product roadmaps and business requirements.
• Act as a mining subject matter expert and provide user perspective to the development team.
• Process – Consult with site to ensure key processes are in place to support mining technology

Required Qualifications:

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering
• 5 years post graduate operational experience
• Competence in underground design, planning and optimisation
• Demonstrated knowledge of both development and production activities
• Understanding of mine economics including budgets
• Knowledge and experience using software and systems to improve mining techniques
• Strong communication, problem solving and analytical skills
• Ability to influence and negotiate with a variety of stakeholders, including senior managers, technical professionals and external customers
• Ability to influence across a matric organisation

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience in the Caterpillar Minetec product will be highly regarded
